Notes From Steven Stone about Tom Sims
In 1986, at the age of 8, my uncle gave me a pirated VHS copy of James Bond View To A Kill for Christmas. A few minutes into the movie, this scene ran across my screen and showed me things I’d never even imagined. Tom Sims as James Bond’s stunt-double, doing things with a scrap of shattered snowmobile that no one had ever seen before.
That one scene set my life in motion.
I just read that Tom has died. Although I work a fair amount in the snow industry, I never had the chance to meet Tom. But I always wanted to, and I’ve always wanted to tell him thanks for sending this 8 year old kid onto a life of geekdom that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
RIP, Tom. And thanks.
